Narrow but Nice

Our 35 foot Bounder pulls our TC van for a 55 foot total and while a little tight we did get a PULL THRU that worked!! Beautifull older KOA and very popular on the weekends!! We waited to depart on a Monday and 80% of campers had gone home on Sunday so maneuvers were easier.

Deferred Maintenance

This place could be so great. Beautiful setting above Shenandoah river next to Harpers Ferry National Park. This campground calls itself a "resort" and charges a mandatory $10 extra as a "resort fee." What this means is a formerly impressive swimming pool, a fairly nice playground for little kids, a filthy "game room" where fully 3/4 of the games don't work, a snack bar that is out of about half of the items on the menu, run down narrow campsites, cable tv that barely works, crumbling roads and extra slow internet. On the positive side, the showers and bathrooms were clean, free pancakes were available every morning and the store was well-stocked. This place needs new management and a maintenance schedule.

Convenient location
By user-5805909... on 2017-10-23.
The location of the KOA is great if you want to explore the Harper's Ferry area. Our site was squeezed and super close to the bathroom. My husband and I thought they must have gotten something mixed up, because how could that possibly be a site, especially to fit our camper. But we made it work. There was an extra $10 charge a night for a resort fee. It was a little pricey, we payed the same price for an oceanfront KOA.

Convenient
By user-6469677... on 2017-10-23.
This is a very convenient place to stay if you want to visit Harper's Ferry Historical Park.
Like the previous poster said the sites are smallish and can be a bit crowded.
Now for the good. The showers are well kept, the camping store is big and has a nice selection, there are plenty of activities for adults and children. Some of the things to do are: pool, arcade, indoor basketball court, bounce pillow, outdoor basketball and volleyball, horseshoes and putt putt golf.
The catch here though is Harper's Ferry. If you like Civil War history it's great. If you are into hiking it's a nice place to go. You can kayak or river tube. Zip lines are nearby and the Appalachian trail runs right through town.

Really nice sites. Warm and welcoming staff and extremely helpful. The amenities were really great. They had a really big laundry room, nice dog park and a cool mini golf course. They also had a free all you can eat pancake breakfast on one of the days we were there. KOA is located right at Harper’s Ferry National Historical Park. Wifi worked really well too.

Harpers Ferry KOA

I have a 42' 5th wheel and the pull thru sites are really to small for your bigger rigs. Also the sites are pretty close together. The staff at the office were friendly and the store there had a big selection of things for RVer's. My site was muddy due to the rain in the area that day. I probably wouldn't stay here again due to the lack of space for the larger RV rigs.

Never again
By user-6383313... on 2019-08-09.
Where to start...
In the plus column... the staff is nice.
In the negative column...
Upon my latest arrival, a staffer waved me to proceed forward and then jumped in front of my rig forcing me to break hard.
A $10.00 per night resort fee.
Frat bro neighbors that like to drink and party late into the night.
Non-functional insecure WiFi
Washed out gravel roads
Short and narrow sites.
Severely deferred maintenance.
Cars parked in the roads...
Campground is largely geared towards tent and pop-up camping. Big rigs and full timers passing through will have issues.
One bar for cell service on three different carriers.
Campers blaring a radio after hours.
And the icing on the cake... a fireworks show started five minutes after quiet hours. Quiet hours... actually seems to be a lie.
Even as I type this, I m considering firing up my diesel, and pulling out.
I ve stayed at dozens of KOAs across the country, and have only visited this one attend a nearby friend s birthday party each year. This campground has gotten steadily worse and worse. I will never ever stay here again.

Nice But Assigned Site Was Not Appropriate
By user-4842672... on 2019-08-09.
This is a nice campground. But since they were full in their area for large RV they stuck us over in an area that was not suitable for 37 foot motorhomes. The pathways were extremely narrow and it was incredibly difficult to get into our site due to the numerous trees. Furthermore, our site was so unlevel that despite using multiple blocks we could not level and therefore could not open our slides. They were full and we couldn't get another site.

Resort(?) KOA

For Harper's Ferry area this is it. Put us in a site where the sewer hose would have to run uphill(?) and had 50 amp and I only needed 30! Moved to level site so tight had to take the car off the dolly to get in. Another example of KOA quality staff.
By user-unknown on 2019-08-09.
Had full hookup - sewer ran uphill by a good 16 inches. (Ended up having to use dump station - which was terribly unlevel). Very narrow slots, very difficult to maneuver big rigs. Saw two (2) actually hIt and damage their rigs on corner boundary rocks. Clean, Friendly, well maintained grounds.

Went Halloween weekend. Great fun, lots of decorated sites. Has wine tastings on site from a guest winery. Camp store has lots of goods.
Major downside is sites 15 to 17 and probably others, the sewer hookup is uphill.

Smoky RV ghetto
By user-unknown on 2019-08-09.
One star only because not giving any stars isn t an option. Had 2 night reservation. Left as soon as we got there. Notwithstanding that our class B couldn t even fit into assigned spot, the place was so smoky we couldn t breathe.

Never Again!

We had three day reservations over the long Memorial Day weekend we left a day early. Wish I had checked out RV Parky before making reservations at Harpers Ferry KOA. The write-ups with some of the lowest ratings were things my wife and I experienced at Harpers Ferry. We were given a back-in spot near the civil war trench. This site was way more difficult to back into than a site should be. Getting into the spot was made more difficult by the extremely narrow road and vehicles parked all over the place. There were stumps we had to avoid while backing in, and the spot was not anywhere close to level. I have small travel trailer and I had to place every spare leveling block I had on the low side to raise the trailer (appx 6 inches) and it barely reached level. The sites were so close to each other that with all the campfires every evening it was very smoky. It was also loud in the evening and quiet hour didn t mean much especially on Saturday night. The camp store was very large and well stock but extremely over-priced in my opinion.
On the positive, the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Amazing stay!!

Awesome!! Make sure to ask for Pam if you call, just as sweet as she can be! This was our first ever travel trailer trip. She spent a lot of time on the phone with me while making the reservation, making sure I got the spot that would best suit my needs both for the trailer and my comfort. Once I arrived they had A concierge take me to my spot. This park has everything, a nice pool, a little general store packed with ANYTHING you would want or need. Put Put golf, a small wine store that sells homemade fudge made on site, and pancakes every morning!! The entire staff was truly very helpful, Pam s husband Tom came to check our Refrigerator to make sure it s lack of working was not user error, it was found the brand new refrigerator was defective.
