Clean, safe, quiet family campground
By user-6530218... on 2017-10-23.
Camped here many times. No reservations, so you have to pull in during the week to get a spot for the weekend. The grounds are well maintained and the camp host is a great local. Playground, concession, beach, picnic grounds, boat launch all kept well. Verizon or Straight talk are the only cell services that you can pick up. Great location in the middle of the Shawnee National Forest. Great local favorites like the Chocolate Factory (for ice cream and homemade candy), Dary Bar (gotta have the chicken'n'dumplings) and can't miss The Garden of the Gods and Camel Rock.

Wonderful camp host Jen

We camped here during the eclipse. It was dead center of totality. The host Jen was amazingly accommodating of everyone. Long past being "full" on Thursday many people arrived on Friday and Saturday but she found lawn spaces for all of their tents.

First time at this campground. Smaller campground. Wife and I both love the quiet atmosphere. Family oriented. No golf carts racing around. Nice gravel spaces but some small with lots of trees. May be difficult for anything over 32'. Very nice beach area for the kids. Very nice walking trails. No cel service or wifi. Camp host friendly. Still had spots open during Labor Day weekend. We will definitely be back. Camped here in 32' motorhome.

Poison Ivy headquarters

I have never seen so much poison ivy per square foot. On the ground. Climbing up trees. Hanging from branches.

We were amazed at the ease and beauty of this place. Perfect setting. Great camp hosts. We had a blast on our bikes and kayaks here. Took the kayaks straight out from our campsite. It was spectacular!

Another great.camp experiance. Expect the outdoor experiance as this is not a RV Resort. Both RV Electric with water sites also primitive tent sites no electricity available. We camped in 5th wheel trailer with Elec. & Water. Most sites within short walk through woods to lake front, not really lake front sites but only woods between sites and lake.
HOST are friendly and helpful when needed.
Camp sites are well spaced. Roadway is narrow and may be hard for less experianced to back into sites. Sites mostly will need campers leveled some so expect to use wheel boards or ramps as needed.
Restroom nearest our site was being remodeled but another with showers was in short distance.
Kayak fished most of week with fair results.
Campground is not respectable recommend pre weekend arrival during busy season. Popular camp for deer hunters during fall.

These graveled sites are fairly level. Lots of wooded space between sites. The host is knowledgeable and friendly. She has close connection to law enforcement and there is no tolerance of shenanigans. We really loved it here. There is a trail around the lake and a swimming beach. Fishing is popular.
