Not enough room
By user-5798319... on 2018-06-27.
Just getting to our spot was ridiculously tight. Streets and sites are not adequate for maneuvering large RV's. And the connections on the sites are not conveniently located for hook up.

Pirateland.. aka golfcart haven!
By user-5903758... on 2018-06-27.
Camped at Pirateland in Myrtle Beach this weekend..A few pros and cons: Cons first - granite it was a holiday weekend, but there were soooo many golfcarts on the roads it was scary.. there were teens driving around "cruising", and no enforcement of speed.. We're glad we left our kids bikes at home! Also, while the spots were spacious, the roads were not.. very narrow! We have a 38' trailer, and with truck, puts us well over 50'. We had to turn around and come down the wrong way to get our rig in our spot.. Helped another guy get in his the next day.. can you say, skilled drivers only?!
Ok, for the pros: lots to do, great pool, lazy river, lots of bathrooms, great beach access, spacious rv sites.

Great place for fun
By user-5858198... on 2018-06-27.
If you want a quiet wooded beach site, this is not the place for you. This is huge campground with lots to do and lots people busy having fun. Yes there are many golf carts and people everywhere but they are all having a great time. Come join them.

Trucking Family
By user-5817937... on 2018-06-27.
This campsite didn't meet our expectations at all! Not even close. We have a 25 ft . toy hauler and 3/4 ton truck. We are a family of 4. Our kids are 7 and 4 . We arrived at the gate to find good signage outside and a clean lobby for check in. The staff in the lobby were friendly and helpful . We thought this was going to be an awesome vacation . That's until we rolled through the gate.....We paid for a prime space. My husband is a long haul truck driver. He can back in anywhere. These spaces are horribly laid out and ALL the connections are at the rear end of the trailer! NONE of our connections reached! We had to go by extra power cord small water line, sewer line, and cable line! We carry extra on board and we're still short on ALL! If you have a long trailer be prepared to buy more! The next MAJOR ISSUE, the water park! I made reservations 2 months in advance. We were there 2 days and found out from another guest the water park was Closing! No signs, we were not told during reservations, nothing was said at check in, just CLOSED! Ice cream parlor, Game room, and mini restaurant also CLOSED! The only thing I can say positive is the place was clean and we had a short walk to the beach. Also , you may NOT bring your own golf cart! Way to much traffic for the kids to safely ride their bikes! Not at all the SAFE, FAMILY FRIENDLY resort it was made out to be! WE WILL NOT BE BACK!

Nice place, staff not so much??
By user-6393318... on 2018-06-27.
Ground staff, very friendly. Arcade restaurant, not good at all. Asked to heat my baby bottle. Was told no. Asked for a cup of hot water (to heat my baby bottle) was told no.
You are on top of each other. Bath rooms are okay but ventilation is a no go. Tried to wake up early to beat the rush in 600 am shower, people were blowing it up. Had me running out fast. Late night teens driving golf carts with with loud stereo systems. Was sold a fishing license for their little lake. After talking to many who vacation there often, was told to not drink the water, and you won't catch a fish. Water park (outside, freezing water) kids would not go in. Wanted to go back to the camper within 5 minutes. Inside pool, ,,, heavily chlorinated. Eyes burned walking into the little building. Would not visit again. The arcades, to hit on this again, guy was SO rude (older gentleman). So bad, the older woman who worked there came out and said they are so sorry.

Aargh!!! Pirateland was fun!
By user-5886793... on 2018-06-27.
We have stayed at Ocean Lakes in the past but we're not able to get in. Pirateland did have spots available. Staff was nice, we were given a concrete pad near the ocean. Most sites had covered picnic tables and grass/dirt back-in and pull thru's. Putt-putt golf and planned activities. Nice pool and lazy river. Nice water play area for small children. Easy access to the beach. Nice store. Not impressed by snack bar. Bbq trailer near the store is good. Has a different food from 4-8 in the evenings, see schedule. Large laundry room, but did not use. Beware of the golf carts!

Arcade food guy very rude.
By user-6393318... on 2018-06-27.
Seemed like we were bothering them to order food, his job?? WtF! I would fire him in a heartbeat or end their contract asap. Water park was cold, very cold. Girls who work the store, A+. Big store. Showers okay at best. Same location as the bathrooms. Not good, you get the smell of #2. Need to redo the bathrooms fast. Really small sites, right on top of each other. Need a food place real bad. Some only have a motorhome so trying to do a dinner. Your limited to very basic food (burgers and dogs) would not drive 6 to 7 hours again for this

Great RV Resort
By user-6464148... on 2018-06-27.
We camped here a while ago, the Resort was great, we had a site near the beach and had no problem backing in, I always carry extra water, and sewer hoses. This is one of the nicest resorts that we stayed at.

Worst place ever
By user-5903284... on 2018-06-27.
Horrible, bowles of the earth. Noisey, dirty, packed in worthless place. Not worthy of 1 star. Every night they allow loud obnoxious golf carts to parade around the canpground. Not at all relaxing or fun. Total trash!

Great Park

Like the park, but they don't allow motorcycle to be driven in the campground, all bikes must stay at the office.

Don't think too much....
By anonymous-user on 2018-06-27.
.....just enjoy your stay. This is a great place if you let it be. We will be there for our 5th year in a few weeks. We usually check in, back in (tight sometimes if your neighbors are parked oddly) and enjoy the beach. These sites are wider than any other beach campground, you get a pavilion and a small yard area. (bring a few small tarps to hang on the pavillion to make it a private area and control the ocean breeze (you'll see many others doing the same)). I suggest only staying in the beach area as the inland sites are cramped and dirty with minimal grass. There are carts, there are kids, there are always morons camping no matter what....but you can't stay this close to a beach except maybe 50 places in the country.
Wal-Mart neighborhood market, camping world, car wash, buffets all within 5 minute drive.
Try JimmyZ's hibachi
Try DiCarlos Pizza (especially if from Pittsburgh area)
5th star if they would fix up some of the aging pavilions and public areas.
Have a good trip!

rates very a lot
By user-unknown on 2019-08-09.
Completely acceptable campground, older, clean, but not manicured. The rates vary a lot depending on the time of year. We had a beach area spot for $48/night in October. Starting the first of Nivember, rates went down to $33/night. Peak season rates go up to $78/night.
By user-unknown on 2019-08-09.
We love Pirateland and have been camping here for over 15 years. We are now a fulltime family and we are spending the winter here. Extended stays during off season cost $18-$21 a night. It is crazy here during holidays and the summer months. Everything is clean and kept up well. They are currently renovating the bathhouses. Sometimes the sites are a bit tight and hard to get in to but there are not too many places where you can sit in your bed and see the ocean over the sand dunes. The staff is friendly and won t freak out over every little dumb thing your kids do. It s very family friendly.

Perfect vacation

Visited for 1 week prior to Memorial Day. Beautiful beach and resort. Had an ocean front spot and loved it. Friendly people, lots of things to do. Clean pool, very good camp store. Grill on site for burgers, pizza and ice cream. Golf cart rental on site which is needed as the resort is huge. Definitely coming back again. Site 696 is a perfect location if you are a beach person. Uber is available if you do not have a vehicle. Wish they would allow private golf carts but you can't have everything.
